Summer is here, and it's time to practice summer skincare diligently! Just like we change our wardrobe according to the season, our skincare routine needs an update too now that warmer days are here. So, are you ready for your summer skincare routine?

Now, there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to taking care of your skin during the summer. Let's take a look at a few essential summer skincare tips.

NEVER FORGET SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen will always be in the list of summer skincare must haves. You need to make sure that you're applying sunscreen regularly! It will protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) rays.

Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or above every day, even if you're staying in the shade. Be it a visit to the beach or a brunch with friends, don't forget your sunscreen.

Protecting your skin from the sun is extremely important because sun damage can not only lead to premature skin aging but also skin cancer. Remember to reapply your sunscreen every few hours, and especially after sweating or swimming.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Another important thing to remember is to drink plenty of water. Although this rule applies all year long, it's particularly important during summer when temperatures are higher than usual.

Drinking water will help keep your skin cells hydrated and prevent them from becoming dry and irritated. Make sure to drink water regularly throughout the day and don't let your body (and consequently, your skin) get dehydrated!

CHOOSE THE RIGHT MOISTURIZER OR DAY CREAM

When it comes to choosing a summer moisturizer or day cream, you'll want to make sure that it's light and non-greasy. This will help keep your skin from feeling heavy and sticky in the heat.

What's an even better option here? A moisturizer that is comprised primarily of natural ingredients. Additionally, you'll want to look for a moisturizer that contains SPF to further protect your skin from the sun. INDICA Skincare's Premium CBD Day Cream, specially formulated for pollution-related skin concerns, has an SPF of 20 and contains powerful antioxidants and 25 other natural ingredients, such as CBD, hemp oil, aloe vera, avocado, coffee, rice bran oil, hyaluronic acid!

It's also a good idea to have both a day cream and a night cream, to meet your skin's different needs during the day and night.

GO FOR A NIGHT CREAM

The best summer skincare routine makes use of a night cream! At night, your skin works hard to regenerate and repair itself from the damage it has incurred during the day. This is why it's important to use a night cream that will help support this process.

When choosing a night cream, look for one that contains ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. These ingredients will help brighten your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and improve your skin's overall texture. During summers, a night cream will be especially beneficial because it will be able to counteract the damage faced by your skin during the day.

INDICA Skincare's Premium CBD Night Cream is a good option for your summer skincare routine at night because it contains poppy seed oil, retinol, lavender, CBD, and hyaluron, which promote your skin's natural regeneration and refresh it overnight.

EAT HEALTHY

You need to make sure that you're eating a healthy diet. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will help your skin stay clear and glowing. Foods that are rich in antioxidants, like berries, tomatoes, and green leafy vegetables, are especially good for your skin. They help protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.

Additionally, you should also make sure to get enough omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential for keeping your skin hydrated and preventing dry ness. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, such as salmon, and in flaxseeds, chia seeds, and hemp seeds.

Of course, you can enjoy junk food and summer treats, but moderation is key!

AVOID HOT SHOWERS

You'll also want to avoid hot showers, as they can strip your skin of its natural oils. Instead, opt for lukewarm, tepid, or even cold water. After your shower, make sure to moisturize your skin while it's still damp. This will help lock in hydration and prevent your skin from feeling dry and irritated later on.

EXFOLIATE REGULARLY

Exfoliating your skin is important all year round, but it's especially important during summer. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and prevents them from clogging your pores. It will also help your skin better absorb products like your day cream, night cream, sunscreen, and makeup.

When exfoliating, look for an exfoliator that contains natural ingredients like jojoba beads or apricot kernels. You'll also want to make sure that the exfoliator you choose is gentle enough to use on a regular basis, particularly on your face. You can even try a homemade exfoliant, made using ingredients such as oats and coffee grinds. However, don't go overboard with exfoliation!

Enjoy your summer but don't forget to take care of your body's largest organ — your skin!
